Brian De Lorenzo: News

Brian De Lorenzo to perform Around the World in 60 Minutes on March 20 - February 27, 2009

BOSTON - Award-winning singer Brian De Lorenzo brings his new show Around the World in 60 Minutes to the cabaret stage in Harvard Square's famous Blacksmith House. Take a trip with Brian to locations near and far with songs familiar and not-so-familiar, including a tribute to the "Big Apple" and some very funny travel songs.

Brian is well known for finding wonderful songs that aren’t so well known; and for his interpretations of standards from the Great American Songbook and musical theatre. Around the World…includes songs from Brigadoon, On the Town, Porgy & Bess, and My Fair Lady as well as songs from New Faces of 1956, Angel, and A New Brain.

The opening act for the evening is singer Christine Fontana. Christine enjoys singing many styles including jazz, Broadway, opera, R&B, and country. She recently appeared as "Blanche Ingram" in the musical Jane Eyre at Theatre III. Audiences are often pleasantly surprised at the power, control, versatility, and outpouring of emotion from Christine.

New England Light Opera fills a major gap in greater Boston’s cultural life by staging productions and concerts of operetta and early musical theatre, in English. It offers professional performance opportunities to local singers, actors, instrumentalists, directors, and technicians and increases the accessibility to, and protects the historical legacy of, significant works of light opera and musical theatre through research, reconstruction, translation, and, most importantly, performance.
